I know right?!

so colour me flabbergasted.

just take a wee guess where this cashmere coat is from...

Primarni. seriously. so chic.
also in their a/w collection is this perfect length midi skirt that is totally yummy.
usually they only have one or two nice bits but looking at the pr shots of their new 'collection' there's quite a lot that's fairly covetable, of course this does mean the prices are hiking up a bit, but could it possibly be that fast, conveyor belt fashion is finally getting a bit of a shake up? and can somewhere that's marked out it's place in the market so firmly now start to raise prices and move away from its target audience?

Thursday 26 August 2010

So blogging has been about the last thing on my mind recently, am on the 'should be done by the end of today' bit of my dissertation and am flying out to nepal a week today so haven't really had time to think about anything else. Anyways, that's no excuse!

lately i've been massively craving a new staple pencil skirt, i used to have two colours of this Topshop origami skirt in black and bluey purple which i used to wear pretty much every day, so much that i ripped the seams of both of them (shitty topshop materials plus the wrong stitch down the sides plus not having teeny thighs!) and after about 3 repair jobs they were confined to the bin of shame.

so i saw this beautiful skirt on Net a Porter from Craven, which just about made my day, it's totally versatile and textured and interesting enough that i could wear it to interviews and not feel like a nob, then switch the top and wear it out. anyhow i'm in love.

Except it's like £250. so, given my soon to be new found freedom, i'm head down to whatever fabric mecca i can find and dig out mum's sewing machine and try and make my own, will obvs show you the results.

Topshop wants.

Just watched the Mad Men christmas episode. It neeeds to be winter again. winter fashion is so much more wearable for pale girls!

If i had a spare £150, this jacket would be mine tomorrow. sadly...

Oh to be effortless.

Let's just put it like this, it takes me a long time to look presentable.
I never know whether it takes these girls longer or they do fall out of bed like that.

Pour myself a cup of ambition

Some pics from my train journey into work.

I was trying to stalkerishly get a pic of the girl sat in front of me cos she looked amazing in her breton t and straight fringe but instead got this double exposed look. You'll have to trust she looked amazeo

Aye me, sad hours seem long.

Ableeurghhhghgh. that is the sad state of my head right now.

The worst thing about working in the evenings and studying during the day is that whilst working at home, i have all day to stress out about what i'm going to wear to work, which is ridiculous because we have to wear these ghastly red polo shirts in any case. which essentially means that whatever i choose i'm wearing it for about an hour and a half, which is the total time it takes me to do a round trip to work and back.

Because i need to have my phone and access card on me always, whatever i wear on my bottom half have to have pockets and because we have walkie talkies they need fit well enough to not be pulled right down by how heavy the radios are.
Unfortunately today i'm wearing these shorts but in camel, buuuut they only had them in a 12 which means they barely stay up and last time i got asked how long i thought it would be until my pants were on show. brill.
Today they're held up with a safety pin so they fit better but now I'm in the infinite dilemma of what do you wear with shorts that are semi-formalish? If i wear a vest top they're a bit boobs legsly, and all the t-shirts i own are burnout tees so look dead odd with silk look shorts.

also, i tried to curl my hair for that dishevelled long bob look. yeah i just look a mess.

Right, i think it's time to change.
Again.

Celeb-Watch

Been dead rubbish lately, trying to plan too many trips (new york and everest) whilst working to fund it and trying to think about dissertation PLUS attempting not to melt in this sweltering london heat. Anywho, the celebs have been turning it out lately...

NeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD this handbag.
After Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams is deffo one of my favs, she always looks immaculately turned out and this bag (Miu Miu?) is so far beyond covetable there aren't words.

Also, loving the non-styled summer looks liv tyler and ashley greene have been rocking this weekend, so nice to see them being relaxed with styling instead of some of the bonkers 'fire your stylist' stuff ashley greene has been wearing lately, bedsheety Alexis Mabille gown anyone?

Hair crush

My biggest hair crush is no supermodel, nor is she a super chic it girl who can shave her head and the whole world fawns, it's the delightfully terrible Sophia Bush who plays Brooke Davis (the hands down best bit, except stoned dogs eating transplant hearts) about One Tree Hill. Her hair is always immaculate but never conservative and sleek but never showy. I really like the way she can have it really casual but looks equally (if not more) stunning with pinned up dos.

This first pic is probably my all time fantasy hair, which i always need to remind myself of when, like now its sitting just below my shoulders and i want to cut it into a bob:

And this is what I like to think my hair looks like now (hah) also she looks quite a lot like Jen here...

Mostly, her hair is dead healthy and shiny. One of the few things that my lovely blackish brown hair is good for is that it's pretty darn shine-tastic, number 1 tip is MOP Glisten Shine Drops, I got a bottle of this serum when i was 16 and working at a local hair dressers, i use about 2 drops a day on wet hair and have only just got past half way in the bottle (that's so long now, i cant count the years on 1 hand) so it really is worth the 8/9 pound price tag!

sheer shirts and stuff

so following C'est Gleek I decided that the only proper money (primark doesn't count) I'd spend on clothes is money that i've made selling old ones, and after getting rid of some massively impractical AA skirts and some wetlook leggings that ive had a year and still have the tags on, I've decided that i could do with a nice sheer shirt for summer so i'm not massively indecent all the time in little camis, now the only problem is which one to buy!

Oho urbans.

The pure love want need compulsions i'm having, along with the 'arghhghghgh in 2 weeks today i'll be done with everything for my masters except my dissertation' means that i'm a bit short of words to say anything intelligent other than this is what i'm coveting from urbans:

Anchor Stamp Necklace £14.00
Jan Habraken Rain Shower Curtain £20.00
Cupcake Salt & Pepper Set £7.00
Pins & Needles Double Breasted Dress £48.00
love this, like a toned down Joan from Madmen, hopefully it'd fit better than on the model...
Silence + Noise Slouchy Skinny Pale Pink Jeans £50.00

Asos, can't find it on the site now (devvod cos it was only £40ish)
And a whole other price bracket would see this on me every day!
